Bentley Rare Book Gallery 25th Anniversary

Bookplate Design Competition Winner Announced

The Bentley Rare Book Gallery is pleased to announce that student Dee Dee Merrill's design was selected to serve as the collection's new bookplate.

In Fall 2013, Bentley staff invited students to contribute their vision of the Gallery and its future by designing a bookplate in honor of the collection's 25th anniversary. A team of curators and artists reviewed the submissions and selected Dee Dee's design in Spring 2014. The drawing incorporates elements of the university, including the Kennesaw State University mascot, the owl, as well as volumes illustrating the significance of the book as object and artifact.

Bookplates have been used since the second half of the fifteenth century as expressions of ownership and the personal connections individuals have with their libraries. This design will be used to identify those who have contributed to the mission of the Gallery through their donations or support.
